Privacy and Confidentiality Policy

Aunties and Uncles Queensland is committed to ensuring the privacy and confidentiality of all clients through the effective management of their personal information in accordance with Privacy legislation.

Personal information collected by Aunties and Uncles Queensland relating to families and volunteers is gathered, used, stored and accessed in line with legislative requirements. Program participants are informed of their rights and responsibilities in relation to their personal information which is observed by way of the program’s application and referral forms for volunteers and families respectively. Program participants, and/or their legal guardian, provide informed consent to Aunties and Uncles Queensland allowing the collection, use and storage of their personal information. They are made aware of the purpose for information collection and the ways in which this information may be used by Aunties and Uncles Queensland. Personal information is not released to other people or organisations outside of the understood program guidelines without the consent of the program participant and/or their legal guardian.

The Board is responsible for ensuring compliance with this policy, resolving disputes relating to the privacy of program participants and investigating any possible confidentiality breaches, including management of any required disciplinary process that may result. All employees are required to adhere with the provisions of this policy and relevant privacy legislation when dealing with the personal information of program participants.
