Aunties and Uncles is an educational initiative in filmmaking and media skills for kids aged 8 - 12. We offer training workshops for primary school kids and teachers through an exciting hands-on production model. All cameras, microphones, editing software and instruction that schools need to participate is supplied.

Aunties and Uncles's main goal is to teach visual literacy and empower young creative minds to express themselves and tell stories that they can share.

Aunties and Uncles will teach you how to tell a good story, how to use a camera, record sound, interview, shot list and edit - all the skills you need to tell an engaging story. The rest is up to you!

Each group of kids will produce a short documentary they research, film, sound record, edit and direct themselves and receive a copy to keep!

Aunties and Uncles Queensland is an early intervention and prevention program helping vulnerable and socially isolated children aged 1-11 years, within the greater Brisbane and Gold Coast areas. Mentors have an immense long-lasting impact on these children by helping them to experience stability and the benefits of an extended family.
